1) How do I change my address with CASB?
Send the appropriate information via e-mail to the CASB General Registrations. Please include your full name and student ID number when notifying Student & Support Services of any change in registration information.

Students with a change in their personal address information are required to submit a Change of Personal Information Form by e-mail to CASB General Registrations at generalregistrations@casb.com . Please include your full name and student ID number when notifying Student & Support Services of any change in registration information.

2) I have left my previous firm and am now employed at a new CATO. How do I notify CASB?
Changes in CA Training Office employment require submitting a Change of CA Training Office Form. Please include your full name and student ID number when notifying Student & Support Services of any change in registration information. Please note that you are required to ensure that your previous CA Training Office provides CASB General Registrations with a Confirmation of Practical Experience Certificate. All forms should be submitted to generalregistrations@casb.com

3) I was recently married/divorced. How do I change my name with CASB?
Email or send via regular mail a photocopy of your marriage certificate or drivers license along with a Change of Personal Information Form to generalregistrations@casb.com. (Note: Your Blackboard ID will not change. Please continue to use the original ID assigned to you upon registration with CASB.)

4) When can I register with CASB?
You can register with CASB when you commence employment at a CA Training Office, provided you have completed 45 credit hours toward your degree. Your accrued employment hours can then begin being applied to your three year practical experience requirement. If you do not yet have employment at a CA Training Office, you may still register in CASB Module 1 if your degree and all educational prerequisites have been met.

Students seeking to commence CASB modules prior to their employment start date may also register as a student (e.g. spring graduates commencing Module 1 in May should submit registration applications to CASB by March 1).

5) Can I use CGA or CMA courses as exemptions to the CASB program?
CMAs and CGAs in good standing are exempt from the CASB degree and prerequisite requirements. You are required to successfully complete the CASB modules and write the Uniform Evaluation (UFE). You are required to complete the three year practical experience requirement.

6) Can I enroll in CASB as a co-op student?
Students in an approved co-op degree program follow a program of work and study terms approved by their university, CASB and their employer. A list of approved Co-op programs is listed in Appendix E of the Education Policy Manual. Each student's program will be unique depending on the university they attend, time which they entered the co-op program, number of prerequisites completed at time of enrollment in CASB and number of terms until the student's degree is attained. A minimum of 45 credit hours must be completed for practical experience to be recognized.

Co-op students are eligible to begin taking CASB modules during their work terms providing they have completed Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 and 2 and Tax (personal and corporate) prior to the start of Module 1.

7) How can I enroll in CASB as a mature student?
A mature student is an individual who does not hold a four-year 120 credit university degree or an equivalent to one from a Canadian university and is not able to register in any other student category.

To register as a mature student, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Five years of relevant business experience, or a combination of business experience (two years minimum) and full-time post-secondary education (up to three of five years)
  • GMAT score of 550 or higher
  • Secure employment with a CA Training Office

In addition to the above requirements, you must complete 12 prerequisite courses and submit a detailed resume outlining your work experience accompanied by two letters of reference. Your application will be reviewed and approved by the Director, General Registration.

8) I worked as a co-op summer student. Can I claim practical experience time I spent at a CATO last year before I registered in the CASB program?
You must be a registered CASB student for the time to count. You must make a written request to CASB's Director of General Registration requesting that the time accrued be applied to the practical experience requirement of your program. The request must also be accompanied with a completed Experience Confirmation Form and the appropriate registration fees from the commencement of the period of the practical experience. Students must have completed a minimum of 45 university credit hours to be eligible to have practical experience recognized.

The maximum period allowed for this claim of formerly accrued experience is 12 months.

It is the student's responsibility to pay the registration fees from the commencement of this practical experience period.

9) I'm completing my degree or prerequisites, but I won't have a transcript of my final courses in time to meet the deadline. Can I still register in Module 1?
You can register if you are scheduled to complete the final course necessary for your degree, or scheduled to successfully complete CASB prerequisites, prior to the commencement of Module 1. Please follow the registration deadlines outlined for Module 1 to avoid late fees.

10) I have one CASB prerequisite outstanding. Can I still begin Module 1?
If you are a degree student with only one prerequisite outstanding (and that prerequisite is not tax or both required intermediate financial accounting prerequisites) you may apply in writing to the Director of General Registration, CASB, for permission to begin Module 1 with the course outstanding. In addition, if granted permission to do Module 1, you must complete the outstanding prerequisite course before beginning Module 2.

11) Do I need to send CASB official transcripts with my registration?
When you register with CASB, please request an official transcript from your educational institution be sent directly from the school to CASB. If you obtained prerequisites from a number of institutions, you must arrange for official transcripts to be sent from each school to CASB.

12) I do not have my degree nor do I have all my prerequisites. Can I register into the CASB program?
If you have commenced employment at a CA Training Office and have completed 45 credit hours toward your degree you may register in CASB. The employment hours you accrue can then begin to be applied to your three year practical experience requirement. If you do not yet have employment at a CA Training Office, you may still register in CASB Module 1 if your degree and all educational prerequisites have been met.

13) What is meant by "a degree or equivalent"?
A degree or equivalent' means:

  • obtain, or be in the process of obtaining, your undergraduate degree
  • be a CGA in good standing
  • be a CMA in good standing
  • have an ACIA certificate in good standing
  • meet mature student requirements
  • meet senior practitioner student requirements
  • specified Foreign Accounting Credentials

14) I have completed my prerequisites, but I do not have my degree. Can I register with CASB?
If you have completed 45 credits toward your degree and are employed at a CATO, you may register in CASB. This time will be accrued toward your three year professional experience requirement.

16) I reside in a country outside Canada. Can I register with CASB?

Students must be a resident of Canada and lawfully permitted to work or study in Canada.
